Precise Measurement of a Locomotive Frame
For a recent project, we measured the dimensional accuracy of a locomotive frame. The objective was to precisely capture 3D deformations and torsion in order to enable a reliable assessment of the entire structure. Using our high-precision laser tracker and the expertise of our team, we were able to obtain a comprehensive overview directly on site within a short period of time.
Within just a few hours, we determined with high accuracy, among other parameters, the position of the bogie relative to the frame corners, the alignment and flatness of the buffer beam, and the diagonal distances between defined frame points. The recorded measurement data was subsequently processed into CAD files and handed over directly to the design department.
This project once again demonstrates how efficiently and reliably our mobile 3D metrology performs, even when dealing with large and complex components. We are pleased to have contributed to the quality assurance of this locomotive.
