3D Environment Model
Three-dimensional environment models play an important role today in architecture as well as in urban and regional planning. They serve to visualize a defined area or even an entire cityscape and provide a valuable basis for discussion for planning authorities and urban planners. The advantages and applications are diverse. Within a 3D environment model, various scenarios can be simulated, allowing measures to be identified and implemented at an early stage based on the insights gained.
Advantages at a Glance
- Support during the design process
- Basis for simulations
- Foundation for virtual reality (VR) applications
- Basis for creating a physical, analogue 3D model
- Improves spatial understanding
- Enables viewing from multiple perspectives
Fields of Application
Architecture, construction sector, public authorities and planning offices

CREATION
Based on our many years of experience, we advise our customers on the characteristics required for each specific project.
- Required quality and level of detail
- Can existing data be used as a basis for the model?
- What additional applications does an environment or city model provide?
- How will the model be used and maintained in the future?
- Cost considerations

UPDATING
The appearance of a city is constantly changing. New buildings are constructed, existing ones are expanded and older structures are demolished. For this reason, the digital twin must be updated regularly. In practice, an update interval of two to three years has proven effective. The changes occurring during this period are usually already known to local authorities due to required building permits, allowing the digital model to be updated efficiently based on this data. If larger areas or entire districts have changed, complete sections of the city can also be newly captured and updated accordingly.
