Industrial Floor Measurement Robot – iBMR
The requirements for floor surfaces used by very narrow aisle (VNA) industrial trucks are specified in the VDMA guidelines. The primary objective is to ensure that floor conditions do not impair the optimal operation of these vehicles. Accordingly, the guideline defines the requirements for the geometric regularity of finished floor surfaces inside buildings as follows:
- Transverse floor flatness: The slope across the aisle between the centers of the load wheels must not exceed a defined limit depending on lift height.
- Flatness along the travel paths: Measurements must be carried out in accordance with DIN 18202. Flatness is verified either by individual measurements using a straightedge or by measuring distances between grid-arranged measurement points and a reference plane.
- Waviness index Fx: Determines recurring surface characteristics over short distances that are relevant to vehicle performance. Profile curvature must be measured using specialized equipment.
Our in-house developed Industrial Floor Measurement Robot (iBMR), combined with a laser tracker, captures all relevant parameters for assessing floor surfaces in a single measurement run. Measurements in narrow aisles are performed rapidly and with maximum accuracy. Our software evaluates the results in real time and automatically generates measurement reports for immediate data interpretation. This enables our clients to instantly assess floor quality and address any problem areas without delay. We advise industrial floor and screed experts, industrial flooring contractors, forklift manufacturers, and developers whenever surface optimization in narrow-aisle areas is required.
